NSO Day 3: Navy Day

This morning began with PT at 0545.  Afterwards, the students kicked off Navy day activities with a ship identification brief and a swim qualification at the university's recreation center.  Following the swim qualification, the students began the hands-on portion of Navy day, learning about room clearance in Visit Board Search and Seizure (VBSS) training, learning basic commands to control a ship on our ship driving simulator, and radio communications.  The students even got a little wet during the fire fighting and hose handling classes as well as during the pipe patching class.  The day concluded with chow, close order drill, and a knowledge examination.  It was great to finally see the students working together during Navy day activities, and I hope that this teamwork will also be exhibited tomorrow during Marine day.
