Today, the students checked into the unit and moved into their dorms. After lunch, the students and their parents sat in on the unit Commanding Officer's introductory brief discussing Midshipmen life within the Mizzou Naval ROTC Battalion. Afterwards, the students took their oath of office given by the unit commanding officer. The students then met with their parents for a final time before New Student Orientation kicked off. After the parents' farewell, the students were issued uniforms that will be worn throughout their military service. The students were then introduced the customs and courtesies of the United States Navy and Marine Corps, followed by safety and hydration procedures. After chow (dinner), the students learned the fundamentals of close order drill. The students are slowly adjusting to the shock of military life, but they maintain a high level of commitment and dedication to their chosen future profession. We look forward to seeing them progress throught this next week.
